Waterford Solidarity Resolution
Whereas
Whereas in
commemoration of this relationship
Whereas the
Waterford Wedgwood Company has been placed in
receivership, its Waterford plant
shut down and its 800 workers made redundant,
and
Whereas,
these
workers, represented by Unite, led the February
23
Whereas our
brothers and sisters are staging a sit-in at
the Waterford Crystal plant, and
Whereas the
1400 workers at Waterfordıs Bausch and Lomb
plant, represented by SIPTU, are
likewise threatened with
redundancy,
Therefore be
it resolved
that the Rochester and Vicinity Labor Council
communicate to leaders of Unite,
SIPTU and the Waterford Central Trade Union our
solidarity with their struggle
and that we express our concern to Rochester
Sister Cities (ISCOR), to Rochester
Mayor Robert Duffy, to Waterford Mayor Jack
Walsh, to the Rochester City
Council, and to Bausch and Lombıs Rochester
headquarters.
