Assemblymember Susan John Announces an
Opportunity
for Your Son or Daughter to Attend SUNY
Maritime
SUNY
Maritime
College has an opportunity for one student from
the 131 Assembly District to
receive a four-year full tuition
scholarship.
The core of
the
Maritime College experience is the Regiment of
Cadets. Its
structured daily lifestyle instills in
students a sense of honor, integrity,
character, and teambuilding skills that
are essential to any student’s personal
growth.
In every facet of their Maritime College
education, students leant to
lead, and life in the Regiment builds bonds
that last a lifetime.
The
College’s
curriculum blends classroom instruction with
three summers of international
travel aboard America’s best-equipped training
vessel, The Empire State
VI. Cadets polish
their skills at the
helm of a 565-foot ship under the guidance of
licensed U.S. Coast Guard
officers. Whether
plotting a course
through the Straits of Gibraltar or maintaining
the sophisticated power plant
of a floating city, cadets are responsible for
all areas of ship
operations. The
cultivation of knowledge
and respect for world cultures compliments
cadets’ responsibilities aboard
ship; upon graduation, cadets will have visited
nine international and three
domestic ports-of-call.
Intercollegiate
athletic competition has long been a tradition
at Maritime College and the
College is steadfastly committed to its
high-caliber athletic programs. The College fields 24
varsity teams in five
different conferences, including football,
baseball, basketball, lacrosse,
swimming, softball, soccer, volleyball,
cross-country, rifle and pistol. The College has attained
national prominence
in crew and sailing.
This is a
great
opportunity for any student; not just to start
college, but to launch a
life.
